Madison Academic Staff Association (MASA)
MASA, founded in 1975, is an organization of members of the academic staff of the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison). Its objectives are to further the professional status of the Madison academic staff; to share ideas on items of mutual interest relating to professional status, conditions of employment, and compensation and to establish communications with other identifiable university groups having similar objectives.

Academic Staff Public Representation Organization (ASPRO)
Founded in 1989, ASPRO is a non-profit, professional organization that represents the UW-System academic staff and their interests with the State Legislature, the Governor's office, the Board of Regents, and the general public. ASPRO is the official lobbying and public relations arm of the academic staff. It is not a union nor does it negotiate or bargain terms of employment.

UW-Madison Retirement Association

The purpose of the UW-Madison Retirement Association is to promote the interests, health and welfare of its members through a diverse program of activities and information, to facilitate their support of the University and the surrounding community through volunteer initiatives, and to maintain liaison with relevant University and community organizations. UW Madison Retirement Association welcomes to its membership all current or retired UW Madison, UW System, UW Extension, UW Colleges, UW Foundation, Wisconsin Alumni Association, or Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation employees. The association also extends membership privileges to a spouse, partner, widow or widower of a current or retired employee.

Madison Academic and Career Advising Association (MACAA)
Founded in 1999, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Academic and Career Advising Association (MACAA) is an organization for all persons on campus who are interested in advising. MACAA fosters excellence in career and academic advising for the benefit of students by promoting professional development, building collaborative relationships, advocating for advising and recognizing excellence. Student Personnel Association (SPA)
The Student Personnel Association (SPA), established in 1956, exists to create cross-campus connections among people who work with students to support, enhance and reinforce the learning mission of the University of Wisconsin-Madison in their lives. SPA works informally, within the UW-Madison decentralized structure, to bring people across campus who work with students together socially and intellectually, for campus-wide affirmation and recognition, for personal professional development, for development of the student services profession and to support the learning mission of UW-Madison. Members of SPA come from all functional areas of student services, including, but not limited to: advising, counseling, housing/residence life, student organizations, the union, multicultural and international services, and other areas.


UFAS (United Faculty and Academic Staff)
A union affiliated with the Wisconsin Federation of Teachers and American Federation of Teachers. UFAS mobilizes grass-roots campaigns to improve university employment policies, provides information and advocacy to individuals, and has as its long-term goal full collective-bargaining rights for faculty and academic staff. Membership dues are through optional payroll deduction.
