Donna Silver named new Secretary

Donna Silver began her position as Secretary of Academic Staff on July 20th, having previously worked as Assistant Director of the Office of Professional and Instructional Development for the University of Wisconsin System. She also had a leadership role in the UW System LEAP (Liberal Education and America's Promise) Campaign. Donna has been involved in shared governance for many years; most recently she served as the UW System's representative on the System Academic Staff Representatives Committee. In that role, she gained an understanding of governance issues on the campuses as well as the many complex issues facing academic staff.

Donna realizes she has a lot to learn and appreciates all the support she has already received from ASEC Chair Heather Daniels and from Colleen McCabe, the former Secretary of Academic Staff. She notes, "I look forward to getting to work with ASEC and the other Academic Staff Committees in insuring that academic staff are seen as vital partners in shared governance at UW-Madison."

As secretary of the academic staff, Donna will facilitate the work of the Academic Staff Executive Committee (ASEC), Standing Committees, and the Academic Staff Assembly.

In her spare time she teaches T'ai Chi and Qigong, studies Chinese, and plays a respectable game of scrabble.

Donna invites all academic staff to stop by 270 Bascom Hall and introduce themselves.
