Daniels named ASEC chair
Heather Daniels has been a member of the Academic Staff at the
University of Wisconsin-Madison since 1998 and currently works in the
Research Division of the Graduate School as a Senior Administrative
Program Specialist. She was recently named chair of the Academic Staff Executive Committee (ASEC).
"I am very pleased and honored to serve as the chair of the Academic
Staff Executive Committee for 2009-10," said Daniels. She added, "The
outgoing chair, Susan Crowley, and Secretary of the Academic Staff,
Colleen McCabe, have done a great deal during their tenures." Daniels
looks forward to building on what they have accomplished.
ASEC, along with standing committee chairs, has not yet attended the
annual planning meeting to set priorities for the upcoming year.
However, Daniels expects to see continued work on some projects that
are in process, including the instruction leave program for Academic
Staff and distinguished prefix guidelines.
Academic Staff on campus will face many challenges this year. In
addition to furloughs, budget cuts, and job losses, ASEC will be
working with a new Provost and new Secretary of the Academic Staff.
Daniels is committed to voicing and addressing the concerns of Academic
Staff when possible. ASEC will continue to provide timely information
on issues that affect academic staff as information becomes available.
The redesigned Academic Staff Web site will be used to distribute this information broadly to the Academic Staff community.
