Academic Staff Endowment Fund
Dear Academic Staff Colleague:
If you are interested in creating (and benefitting from) additional resources
for your own professional and career development, READ ON!!
As we all know, funding for professional development and recognition can
be a challenge to receive in today's budget environment. How do we address
this challenge? The answer is to make a contribution UW Foundation's Academic
Staff Endowment Fund for the purpose of providing resources for members
of the academic staff. Think of what a tax deductible contribution from
each of you could do to build the ongoing fund to its goal of $100,000
and higher long term goals. Currently, the balance is just over $15,000
and so far it has funded the bronze statues that the Academic Staff Excellence
Awards recipients receive.
The interest from this endowed account will be available to us on an annual
basis, in perpetuity, to support a variety of projects for academic staff,
such as additional Academic Staff Excellence Awards for outstanding performance;
support for external speakers to discuss relevant issues of professional
development; and innovative campus programs to further professional growth.
The Professional Development and Recognition Committee, via its Web site, welcomes your input on how the Fund can be used
to benefit you and your colleagues. With full funding, long-term goals
include the establishment of study leaves and the creation of an ongoing
summer institute for academic staff.
We have over 5,000 academic staff at UW-Madison. If each of you makes
a contribution, the total would be substantial. We are writing to ask
you to participate now in this critical effort. The back side of this
sheet has a check off for easy payroll deduction or perhaps you would
prefer the option of sending a one-time gift. Whatever your choice, we
sincerely hope you will consider a donation to the Academic Staff Endowment
