IV. Academic Staff Professional Development Grant Program (ASPDGP).

In January a call for ASPDGP proposals was placed on the Office of Human Resources web page; announced in Wisconsin Week, at Academic Staff Assembly meeting, sent on email to Assembly Reps. and various academic staff groups; and circulated as a mailing to Deans and Directors. The call produced thirty-eight proposals, which were reviewed by a subcommittee of PDRC. Thirty proposals were funded in full or in part, resulting in grants that totaled just over $23,000.

PDRC considered a proposal from School of Education Committee on Academic Staff Issues (CASI) to allow departments to count staff salary/time as their contribution toward the Professional Development Grant split. After considerable discussion, PDRC reaffirmed its decision that departments must be willing to commit funds at least equal to one half the total cost of the grant proposal, excluding salary/time considerations (see attached).

V. Executive Education.

A call for reduced tuition of Executive Education courses was placed on the Academic Staff website and in Wisconsin Week. Eight proposals were received and reviewed by a subcommittee of PDRC. Five proposals were selected and the applicants informed. Ted Beck and Nancy Luther are the contacts in the School of Business and will administer registrations. To formalize the notification process, in the future, PDRC would like to see the letters of notification come from the Secretary of the Academic Staff Office.

Course recipients this year were: Gordon Bain, Chemistry, Course: Basic Management Series, Unit 2: Mastering Supervisory Skills; Dave Black, Course: Strategic Marketing Planning; Mel Morgenbesser, Social Work, Course: Mastering Supervisory Skills; Tracy Perkins, Clinical Science, Course: Mastering Concepts for Non-Marketing Managers"; Monica Theis, Food Science, Course: Financial Management for Clinical Mangers in Health Care
