Resolution in opposition to Senate
Bill 452,
on collective bargaining enabling legislation
Amended and passed by the Assembly on February 13, 2006
Whereas Senate Bill 452 prescribes a framework for collective bargaining that would likely:
1. fragment UW academic staff into several groups
2. diminish the ability of UW academic staff to articulate shared interests,
Therefore, be it
Resolved, That the UW-Madison Academic Staff Assembly supports the right
to choose collective bargaining, but opposes SB452,
And be it
Resolved, That the Academic Staff Assembly will identify and communicate
to the UW Board of Regents and the Legislature the criteria for enabling
legislation that meets the needs of academic staff.
