Districting and Representation Committee
Responsibilities
  • Review election and districting processes and rules to ensure that the academic staff members may exercise their institutional governance rights in the most effective, equitable, and efficient manner.
  • Periodic review of each Assembly district. The purpose of this review is to ensure that each district meets the requirements of the Academic Staff Policies and Procedures (ASPP)
  • Hear appeals from individuals or groups presenting a reasonable basis for assignment to a different district or to a new district.
  • Review and recommend action to the Assembly on changes in size or composition of individual districts, changes in the guidelines that address election and districting issues and changes in the election process.
  • Review changes in procedures to improve the equity of the districting process and the procedures to encourage members' participation in elections and academic staff governance activities.
Membership
Six members elected by the Assembly. Two members shall be elected each year to serve a three-year term.
ASEC Liaison
The committee liaison to ASEC is the chair of the committee. The chair occasionally attends ASEC meetings, as appropriate, to inform ASEC on the committee's work.
