Academic Staff Communications Committee Meeting

1.) Updates and Announcements.
a. Minutes from 10/2/09 were accepted without edits.
b. Several of us visited AS Committees and heard they like the web, want more features/access, and more help with communication.
c. Greg and Brian met with Bruno Browning and Brian Deith, who manage the AS lists. Mary Johansen attended as well. Discussion focused on how to streamline the editing process. Brian will get Mary an Excel view of the php database so she can edit a feed to the database. Brian R. will have the AS site link to the database to "Find my Rep" and Find my
2.) Communications Plan. Around the horn updates and discussions of the parts of the plan that we are working on (up to 60 minutes).
a. The current plan that was updated with volunteers (on the respective sections) on October 2 is on the website under that date.
b. Renee suggested we add our own edits and comments in Google Docs, rather than in the Comm. Plan on the AS site.
c. Greg is completing a fact sheet, based partly on info in the AS Handbook. He'll also talk to Mary J. about producing a brochure and .pdf on AS facts tables and charts.
d. Dick is acquiring equipment and process steps to enable Heather to record highlights of ASEC meetings, and post to the AS web News. Need to figure out where files will reside and what Heather needs to do to edit.
e. Mark is working on the welcome email. Would like to update it biannually.
f. The two Bobs are recommending we submit a few questions to them for the AS survey. Think broadly: what do we want to know from AS? They will deal with redundancy.
3.) Attendees were asked if they had Website updates (next steps), Assembly e-mail list updates, co-chairs updates, and any other items to discuss. General consensus was to wait to see what ASEC suggests before finalizing our next web edits.
