ASEC Reports
JoAnn Carr attended the 1/31/02ASEC meeting. She reported that Dennis Dorn of the Campus Transportation Committee provided a handout with the priorities for the committee this year. The main problem for the committee is too few parking spaces for the increasing demand. The whole system for pricing and assigning spots is likely to be revamped for next year. Emeritus staff and faculty will probably be put in the pool rather than given special status and free parking. The committee plans to have a Web site up soon where they will take questions and comments. ASEC raised concern about how parking is allocated. Can we allocate spots in a more equitable way so that those who earn less don't pay for the most expensive parking?
CEBC talked about how to make transportation alternatives more attractive.

Category A Maximums
Bill Steffenhagen reported that he and Steve Lund will meet with Chuck McConnell from System to talk about a solution to this problem.
Bill reported that the UW Fringe Benefits Advisory committee met on January 29, 2002. There was a report that in Southeast Wisconsin, especially Milwaukee and Parkside, there are only two HMOs. Esther Olsen will take this issue to the Group Insurance Board. The solution may be to get more HMOs to bid for the university contract. The University of Minnesota pulled out of the state group insurance pool and bought their own insurance. There has been no word on the Dental Insurance Plan proposed by DER.
Respectfully submitted,
Janice Czyscon
