July 11, 2001

ASEC Reports:
ASEC is forming a number of agenda items for CEBC to work on and will submit them to Ronnie.
Wisconsin Week now has an Academic staff representative and they will attend ASEC and Assembly Meetings.
Linda Newman is the new Chair of ASEC.

Campus Climate Surveys:
Jo Ann went over the Campus Climate survey from the CALS CASI. It focused
mainly on job satisfaction -- http://www.cals.wisc.edu/casi/
Click on "2000 Climate Survey Results".
The School of Education CASI is also preparing to do a survey of its members and is planning to focus more on equity and diversity issues.
After reviewing the CALS survey, the CEBC committee made a motion to talk to ASEC about having a broadly focused campus wide survey initiated. The campus wide survey would be reviewed by a professional surveyor to make sure the questions are correctly phrased to extract useful information. The Survey results would then be shared with the standing committees, ASEC and the Assembly to look for issues that need to be addressed. ASEC could use the CALS survey as a base and maybe include information from the School of Education's CASI.

Ronnie is going to contact Kathleen O'Rourke about current brown bags schedules. At our August meeting we will decide which brown bags are appropriate and then plan on when to have them.
