CEBC Meeting

December 5, 2001

Present: JoAnn Carr, Ronnie Carda, Adam Steinberg, Jim Pavelko., Bill Steffenhagen, Larry Davis

Agenda for 12/5/01 meeting was approved.

Minutes from the 11/7/01 meeting were approved.

We agreed that CEBC would give reports at every Assembly meeting. Janice will report at the 12/10/01 meeting, and Larry will report at the January 2002 meeting.

We decided that at the next CEBC meeting we would continue discussion of the issues raised by people who stopped by the CEBC table at the October benefits fair.

Bill Steffenhagen reported that at the 11/29/01 ASEC meeting he gave an update from the subcommittee that was looking at Category A salary caps. He said the subcommittee's recommendation is to expand salary ranges from 150% to 200% to reflect market realities and to modify the program manager title series to provide normal progression through the levels similar to the professional title series. Bill said he would attend the 12/13/01 ASEC meeting at which time he expected ASEC would endorse the recommendations. Bill also said he would discuss the recommendations with Steve Lund. ASEC discussed a leadership conference for representatives and alternates this spring. ASEC asked Provost Spear for $5,000 to support the conference. Bill said ASEC then went into closed session with the campus police chief to discuss campus security.

The following assignments were made for attending ASEC meetings:

1/3/02Jim Pavelko
1/10/02Adam Steinberg
1/24/02Larry Davis
1/31/02JoAnn Carr

Meetings will be held at 1:30 in room 69 Bascom Hall. Ronnie will confirm the dates with Colleen and then with CEBC.

Ronnie will talk to Don Schutt and Ann Wallace and set up two CEBC-sponsored information sessions in January; one on building a portfolio and one on the promotions process.

It was moved and seconded to send a letter from the CEBC to State Representative Mark Pocan indicating CEBC's support of the bill that would extend health care and long-term care insurance to the domestic partners of state employees. The motion passsed unanimously.

It was moved and seconded to support the proposed campus domestic partner policy. The motion passed unanimously.

Next meeting of CEBC: 1/9/02

Respectfully submitted,

Janice Czyscon
