CEBC Meeting Minutes
August 1, 2001

Susan Adams from the Employee Benefits and Payroll Office described the informational sessions that will be presented by her office during the upcoming year and the 7 presentations scheduled for the October 11, 2001 Benefits Fair. From October through August they will offer monthly sessions about early-career and mid-career benefits, the TSA basics, and pre-retirement workshops. In the spring they will offer sessions on disability benefits, survivor benefits, buying creditable WRS benefits, and understanding your WRS statement of benefits.
CEBC will help inform all academic staff about the benefits sessions coordinated by the Benefits and Payroll Office. CEBC will have a table at the October 11 Benefits Fair. We will provide a handout about the role of the CEBC with all CEBC members listed. We will also distribute the list of ASA standing committees. We will informally survey academic staff who stop by our table to learn if they have compensation/benefits issues. Each CEBC member will attend one of the seven presentations at the Fair. After the Fair CEBC may contact academic staff to learn what they believe may have been missing from the Benefits Fair. We will communicate all academic staff concerns to the Benefits and Payroll office.
CEBC will ask to be on the agenda of the next CASI reps meeting. CEBC would like to work with the CASIs to conduct climate surveys of their schools/colleges. CEBC would like the CALS CASI rep to explain how they conducted their survey and what they are doing with the results. We'd like to create a set of survey questions that each school/college would ask and give each school/college the opportunity to add customized questions to the survey.
CEBC plans to meet early in the fall semester with the chair of the Commission on Faculty Compensation and Economic Benefits and the chair of the non-represented classified staff organization to discuss common issues and how we can work together.
