CEBC Meeting

April 4, 2001

The meeting convened at noon.

CEBC met with PPPC to discuss the issue of Category A salary caps. Ann Wallace will ask Steve Lund to provide the list of the various titles used at all the System campuses and indicate which gender holds them. She will also ask Steve to provide the number of UW-Madison academic staff who have reached the maximum of their salary ranges in order to see how many are affected by the cap. The two committees will meet again on June 6 to review the data.

The perceived goal of the two committees is to work through system to let DER know what we want. Torphy & APO have tried to remove caps (or extend caps) before. The statute says titles will be matched to pay ranges with minima and maxima.

Bill Steffenhagen will ask the System Fringe Benefits Advisory Committee if caps are on the Regents' agenda as a flexibility/retirement issue. DER has allowed a lot of flexibility for several state agencies.

Minutes from the February CEBC meeting were approved

Chair Ronnie Carda announced that Reggie Gauger decided not to run for the CEBC. His term ends June 30, 2001.
