CEBC MEETING

November 1, 2000

Present: Ronnie Carda, JoAnn Carr, Janice Czyscon, Larry Davis, Reggie Gauger, Walt Hopkins, Bill Steffenhagen, Adam Steinberg, Bob Paulos

Minutes from the October 6, 2000 meeting were approved. Ronnie noted that Bob Paulos has agreed to finish out his term on the CEBC.

Reggie Gauger agreed to contact Joe Corry about a letter distributed at a recent ASEC meeting.

JoAnn Carr said that APO and PPPC reviewed the latest draft of the CEBC brochure on promotions and salary increases. The CEBC subcommittee will keep this project moving and try to distribute the brochure to all academic staff in early January. MASA agreed to sponsor a brown bag lunch focusing on the brochure. CEBC could provide information on portfolio building at this brown bag lunch.

Coverage of upcoming ASEC meetings: December 7, Walt Hopkins; December 14, Larry Davis; December 21, Bill Steffenhagen.

Bill Steffenhagen distributed a summary of results from the ASPRO survey. He also distributed handouts from the October meeting of the UW System Advisory Committee on Fringe Benefits. Bill gave the following updates:

• the Wisconsin Supreme Court should not have any problems with Act 11 but is concerned about the $200 million set aside for employer holidays.
• ETF has received about 6100 applications for the Variable Trust Fund. The ETF Web site has information on the fund.
• The UW System Advisory Committee on Fringe Benefits will likely not support the DER Dental Plan if it will increase the cost of health insurance.

Janice Czyscon asked Bill Steffenhagen, the UW-Madison representative on the the UW System Advisory Committee on Fringe Benefits, and Walt Hopkins, the UW-Madison representative to the UW System Committee on Compensation, to keep the domestic partner health insurance issue before their respective committees.
