CEBC MEETING
August 2, 2000
Present: JoAnn Carr, Walt Hopkins, Janice Czyscon, Reggie Gauger, Ronnie Carda, Bill Steffenhagen, Adam Steinberg
Minutes from the June 7, 2000 meeting were approved. Ronnie Carda was elected chair of CEBC. He will ask Larry Davis if Larry would serve as co-chair.
Ronnie agreed to forward all ASEC agendas to all CEBC members.
Bill Steffenhagen agreed to replace Judy Donmoyer as the academic staff representative to the UW System Fringe Benefits Advisory Committee. He will send agendas before all meetings to CEBC members.
Walt Hopkins will continue to serve as the academic staff representative to the UW System Compensation Committee.
Walt will look into the status of Bob Paulos' membership on CEBC.
JoAnn Carr reported that the PPPC has looked at CEBC's draft brochure on academic staff salary increases and promotions. JoAnn, Reggie Gauger and Adam Steinberg formed a subcommittee to work on the brochure. After updating the draft they will present it to Steve Lund and Carla Raatz for their review and distribute it to academic staff before January 1, 2001.
JoAnn will send the updated brochure to all CEBC members for their review.
We tossed around the idea of making the brochure part of a larger campaign.
At the September CEBC meeting we will discuss what kind of input we want to have in the budget process. Before the meeting Reggie will send copies of Carla Raatz's and Katherine Lyall's last set of budget instructions to CEBC members for them to review. We will use these to guide our discussion on the type of input CEBC will have on the next budget.
Ronnie will set up a six-month schedule for CEBC members to attend ASEC and Assembly meetings. He will do this via e-mail.
Janice will bring copies of a memo regarding converting unused sick leave to health insurance benefits at retirement that CEBC discussed earlier this year. We will revisit the issue addressed in the memo at a future CEBC meeting.
CEBC will continue to meet from noon to 1:00 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the month at Health Sciences.
Ronnie asked that CEBC members submit agenda items to him 10 days prior to CEBC meetings.
Walt will notify Colleen McCabe that Ronnie is the new chair of CEBC.
